David Evans Department Store, Swansea. May 1979
This view is no longer. The gardens of Castle Square have been replaced by a concrete piazza and David Evans has closed and been demolished. There would be no car in the foreground as the road was pedestrianised.

Castle Street, Swansea (Recreated)
This is a shot south from High Street into Castle Street. It is a recreation of this 1925 photo from the Frith collection: http://www.francisfrith.com/search/wales/west+glamorgan/swansea/photos/swansea_77379.htm The Luftwaffe and the Planning Department have remodelled Swansea extensively over the years. Only the buildings on the east side of Castle street (the ones with the white arched windows) have survived intact. In the old picture Welcome Lane (the street running east from the lights, down the side of the Argos Extra) doesn't seem to exist. In both photos a building with a curved corner is pictured slightly right of centre at mid distance, but they do not appear to be exactly the same construction. The upper floor of this building houses Barons night club - as featured in the film Twin Town. I can't swear this wasn't also the case in 1925 !
