Daffs in Tinsley Green Park
Not yet fully out, but good to see other buds breaking out the new growth for Spring. Being on a north facing downward slope, these daffs were never going to be the first to bloom. They are also shaded by nearby houses. The Park staff have done a fantastic job in clearing old shrubs, fly-tipped rubbish and doing a daily clean up of cans and wrappers. They have also won the Green Flag award two years in a row for the best and most improved park. Keep up the good work!

Magnolia starts to flower at Tinsley Green
Spring is so much later just this relatively short distance north of London where a recent visit showed magnolias in bloom all over the city.

Empty park
February snow towards the end of the coldest winter for 30 years. I took this photo just before the school run and even then many people were already out enjoying the snow but aren't in shot.

Blossom at Tinsley Green
Mid-morning with this rather straggly flowering cherry with two behind in line. The third isn't in bloom yet but the whole park is in its best state for years.

Daffs at Tinsley Centre
Although now fully out, it still doesn't feel like Spring to me as I feel cold walking round the area. It is to everyone's credit that the daffs have been left for us all to enjoy, as sometimes they have been trampled or harvested. There is not much natural beauty in this part of the city so it does make a difference to this pensioner.

A February afternoon at Tinsley Green
Not much sunlight gets across Tinsley Green on a winter afternoon due to the low angle of the sun as it sets, combined with the slope of the park. I wonder what has affected the earth's tilt since the birth of our solar system... If the earth's tectonic plates had been formed in different orientations the earth's current and familiar geography would be totally different.
