Bears of Sheffield: #54 Pieces
#54 of 61 big bear sculptures, this one was decorated by Nicolas Burrows and is located in Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
Pieces reflects the artist's dynamic style. The design is made up of wild and wonky shapes that interact all over the Bear’s surface achieving a feeling of movement.

Bears of Sheffield: #52 Flora
#52 of 61 big bear sculptures, this one was decorated by Laura Slater and is located in Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
Laura’s Bear design was based on interpreting aspects of the Sheffield Peak District, observing shape, texture and composition inspired by the landscape. Her chosen colour palette references shades and accent colours found in ordnance survey maps.

Meadowhall Shopping Centre under construction (1988)
Constructed on the site of the former Hatfields steelworks, the centre opened for business two years after this picture was taken. At that time it was the second largest shopping centre in the UK.
