Demolishing Shireoaks colliery July 1991
The final days of Shireoaks colliery surface buildings before removal.One of the buildings has already been toppled which was shortly followed by the two shaft head gears. At the time the picture was taken, the electric winder was still in position in the winder house. Today, like so many similar sites the area is now restored and landscaped.
