Welbeck Estate: Dukeries Garden Centre (aerial 2013)
Formerly the gardens of the Welbeck Abbey Estate. The kitchen gardens covered 22 acres (89,000 m2) and were surrounded by high walls with recesses in which braziers could be placed to help ripen the fruit. One of the walls, a peach wall, was over 1,000 feet (300 m) long. See: http://www.welbeck.co.uk/ ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welbeck_Abbey For a historical view (1878) of the whole estate see: http://www.nottshistory.org.uk/Jacks1881/welbeckp1.htm
