Flood in Rhodesia
The Chesterfield Canal is crossed by the railway near Worksop. The railway bridge also crosses the road, which has to dip down below the canal level at this point. After prolonged heavy rain the road was more like a canal! Motorists are asked to check their speed. Hopefully the traffic cones at the end of the road will ensure they do until the waters recede. The low bridge sign hasn't been 100% effective!

Passing Rhodesia ? 1979
Both Rhodesia and Wales were served by the Booth and Fisher bus route between Sheffield and Worksop, giving an international feel to the area! The bus was by this time owned by the South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, although retaining the B&F livery. Although this was on an enthusiast tour, this was one of the company's normal routes, and this bridge was one reason why the B&F fleet consisted entirely of single deck vehicles. The bridge clearance has since been reduced from the 10 ft 0 ins seen here to 9 ft 6 ins. 864KNU was new to B&F in 1959 and is an AEC Reliance with Roe semi-coach bodywork, although by this stage generally only used on service work. This is one of a series of views featuring buses in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=137652761
