Inside the greenhouse at Clumber Park
The shading and open windows do little to reduce the heat in the long greenhouse on the south facing wall of the kitchen garden. This end has tomato and pepper varieties.

Part of the greenhouse at Clumber Park
Clumber Park was the country estate of the Dukes of Newcastle for over 300 years. In the 18th century, the Second Duke commissioned a Palladian style mansion and the estate was also laid out with the Serpentine Lake, formal terraces and the Ornamental Bridge. The house was taken down in 1938 but its footprint can still be seen on the old mansion site At the north side of the Walled Kitchen Garden, Clumber Park has the longest greenhouse in the possession of the National Trust at 450 feet. See www.geograph.org.uk/photo/7607547 for more information about the greenhouse. Clumber Park is now owned by the National Trust.
