Old Milepost by the A6135, Sheffield Road, Hoyland Nether
Cast iron post by the A6135, in parish of HOYLAND NETHER (BARNSLEY District), Sheffield Road, South of Hoyland. 100m North of driveway opposite to Bell Ground House, on the verge, next to wall, 30m South of bus stop and quarter mile North of railway bridge, on East side of road. Erected by the Wakefield & Sheffield turnpike trust in the 19th century. Damaged. Inscription reads:- : SHEFFIELD / 8 / (MILES) : : (LONDON) / 171 : : BARNSLEY / 6 / (MILES) : Grade II listed.
