I notice that this is marked on the main road in the OS map but is definitely to the left on The Walk, just past its junction with the A61.

Obelisk, Birdwell
Built in 1775 by the second Earl of Strafford, presumably as an outpost to his seat, Wentworth Castle, three miles away. Another way of reminding himself how much land he owned. Grade II listed.
