Maltby town entrance feature
On Tickhill Road to the east of the town, the sign celebrates the town's strong mining history. Sadly there are no longer any working collieries in the area following the closure of Maltby Main in 2013.

The sign is testament to this village's once proud coal-mining heritage. During the miners' strike of 1984 the local police station was besieged one night by a crowd of striking miners.
