Hillsborough Place, Hillsborough, Sheffield - 1
Looking from Holme Lane towards Taplin Road ... Hillsborough Road runs off to the right half way down the street. When originally constructed Hillsborough Place was a cul-de-sac, finishing at the end of the house on the right ... Terraced houses on Holme Lane were on the site of the photographer. When these houses were demolished the road was opened up, to give access to Holme Lane for the increasing road traffic.

Hillsborough Place, Hillsborough, Sheffield - 2
The terraced houses on the right, after the Co-op Shop, and those at the far end on the left, were constructed later than the Shop and the houses on the immediate left and became Hillsborough Place when this road was opened up to join Holme Lane, which can be seen in the far distance..

Brightside & Carbrook Co-op Branch 15 (Former), Taplin Road, Hillsborough Sheffield - 2
In my opinion ... these 'old' Co-op buildings were superbly designed, and full of character.
It's great that they survive - albeit under a different guise.

Brightside & Carbrook Co-op Branch 15 (Former), Taplin Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield - 1
A fine example of a 'local' Co-op shop on the corner of Taplin Road
and Hillsborough Place ... now being used for other businesses.
Corrected and Updated in February 2014 following confirmation on Picture Sheffield
This branch - number 15 - was originally part of the Brightside & Carbrook Co-Operative
Society, which in the 1980s merged with the Sheffield & Ecclesall Co-Operative Society
and was re-named - the more logical - Sheffield Co-operative Society.

Hillsborough Baptist Church Hall, Hillsborough, Sheffield - 1
Not far from the Baptist Church, on the corner of Hawthorn Road and Hunter Road is the Baptist Church Hall. The phone lines look like a star on high ... well, perhaps not.
