Infirmary Road in June 1995
Infirmary Road is also the B6079. On the right is the Infirmary Road tram stop for trams to Middlewood and Malin Bridge. However, when this photograph was taken, trams were only running to the previous stop at Shalesmoor. They did not carry passengers along Infirmary Road until the Middlewood and Malin Bridge services commenced on 23rd October 1995.

Entrance to part of the former Royal Infirmary
This doorway, visible from the Tesco Car Park, has two statuettes on either side of the actual door. In this picture the one on the left side is 'named' Hope, the one on the right is Faith. The statuettes were sculpted by Sir Francis Chantrey. See additional pictures for 'close up' images. Image Image

Infirmary Road Tram Stop
One of the Yellow and Blue Route Sheffield Tram Stops, named after the Royal Infirmary building in the background. The hospital was built in 1792 as Sheffield General Infirmary, was renamed in 1897 as the Royal Infirmary. The hospital was replaced by the Royal Hlamshire Hospital and closed in 1980. Most of the buildings remain and are in use as offices.
