Bradfield Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield
Regent Court is a rare example of a formerly high specification apartment complex to have been erected in a working class area financed through private enterprise. This nine storey block with balcony-access was designed by Edgar Gardham and was completed in 1936. The original private rents ranged between 18-25 shillings per week and were considered high by Sheffield standards. This block pre-existed the equally dominant Park Hill Flats that were built nearer the city centre c.1960 for the Sheffield City Council. In addition to this front elevation there are two other wings. In total there are approximately 202 flats, varying in size from 1 to 3 bedrooms and with 3 lifts serving them. Gardham designed a similar but smaller block on Duke Street, which has since been demolished.

The Hillsborough Club, Owlerton, Hillsborough
The Hillsborough Club - Not to be confused with Sheffield Wednesday F.C. - is 'tucked away' between the former Hillfoot Steel Factory premises and the Regent Court Apartment Block. It has presumably seen better days but is still a going concern and looks to be in very good order. Image

'The Hawthorns', Park View Road, Hillsborough
Surely this house should be in West Bromwich or at least re-named Hillsborough! But then again, as it is painted Red & White, perhaps it should be called 'The Blades' ... but that would be a 'name too far' in this area of Sheffield methinks! Image Image
