A stone on the church says that 'In 1974 the clock face was renewed in memory of the pioneer missionaries who witnessed for Christ in the Arctic. Particularly George & Florence Hirst Nicholson.' I wonder what the story behind that is.

A grade I listed church dating from the 12th century. It is one of five churches in the Rivers Team within the diocese of Sheffield, one parish covering the five communities of Brinsworth, Catcliffe, Treeton, Tinsley and Waverley.
