It is pushed along by one or more locomotives, which have another of these snow ploughs (facing the other way) attached at the rear for working in the opposite direction. The Diesel servicing shed at Tinsley
A view from the road bridge that lead to Tinsley yard and depot.A couple of class 37 locos await the next turn of duty. The overhead wires were the end of the Woodhead route which included the electrification into Tinsley yard and depot. This closed just a few weeks later. Tinsley was a very busy freight yard but now stands empty and the depot has been demolished. Tinsley Marshalling Yard was located near Tinsley in Sheffield. It was opened in 1965 as a part of a major plan to rationalise all aspects of the rail services in the Sheffield area, and closed in stages from 1985 with the run-down of rail freight in Britain. It was also the site of Tinsley Traction Maintenance Depot which was closed in 1998. At its peak 200 locomotives were allocated to this depot
