Access All Areas, Vickers Corridor Entrance, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield
After the demolition of the 'old' Vickers 18 & 19 'Pavilion' and the construction of the new Haemodialysis Unit, this is the refurbished 'end entrance' to the Vickers Corridor. Compare this picture with ... Image ... when the refurbishment work was going on. Also with ... Image ... when demolition was in full swing. Another example of one of the Hospital's original buildings ... now used, I believe, by the Estates Office.

Samuel Fox House, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield
The School of Nursing and Midwifery, established in 1995, is based in this lovely modern building. Most of the buildings at the Sheffield Northern General Hospital are named after people who made their name (and fortune) in the Steel Industry. I'm not sure what connection Samuel Fox has with Midwifery but I think he would be pleased with the building.

Welfare Rights Advice Centre, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield
From the looks of the building - tatty - the Welfare people might be advised to get some advice on the upkeep of property!!

Human Nutrition Building - 1, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield
This building is one of the original buildings from the Sheffield Union Workhouse ... and was the School for the children of the inmates. It had room for nearly 200 children. It is now the Centre for Human Nutrition. Image

Longley Hall, Longley, Sheffield
This 'grand old' Country House and its outbuildings have recently been refurbished into office accommodation for the NHS. 100 years ago it was surrounded by farmland ... now it is close to two large Housing Estates but does still overlook Longley Park.

Human Nutrition Building - 2, Northern General Hospital, Sheffield
This view gives a better idea of the size of some of the original Sheffield Union Workhouse Buildings ... this one was the School for the children of the inmates. The many trees on the site make it difficult to get 'uncluttered' views. In the foreground is part of a small two storey Staff Only Car Park. Image Image
