Sun Inn, West Bars
This building dates from 1912 and is on the site of an earlier “Sun Inn” which was built in the 18th century. The Inn was used as a collection point to bring goods in and out of Chesterfield.
The Sun Inn is reputedly the most haunted pub in Chesterfield. On one evening in 1957, bottles were smashed and barrels moved around in a locked cellar. The vandalism was blamed on a ghostly coachman whose murdered body was thrown down a well in the cellar in the 18th century; there have also been reports of ghostly footsteps walking around the building http://markdb1973.hubpages.com/hub/ghostchesterfield (Haunted Places).

Rosewall: Curved Reclining Form by Barbara Hepworth
Created between 1960 and 1962, this modern sculpture, by the world renowned Yorkshire sculptress Barbara Hepworth, was purchased by Chesterfield Borough Council and sits by the path from Queen's Park to the town centre. It was named after a hill in Cornwall which is surrounded by ancient stones worn by the weather. "The stone is myself," Hepworth once said, "looking out to the Atlantic with the sound and smell of the sea."
