The Nettle Inn, Fallgate
Inn and restaurant situated about a kilometre to the south east of Ashover. The pub obtained its unusual moniker via an early 18th century landlord who was a merchant seaman skippering a ship of the same name. However it was not the boat, but the feats of his champion racing dog (also called Nettle) which inspired the name. Later after the death of the landlord the pub was renamed The Greyhound in further honour of the speedy canine.
