Mural, Markham Court, Duckmanton
Placed on this gable end in 2000 and funded by the local residents' association along with National Lottery Millenium (sic) funding, the mural is "dedicated to those who died in the mining industry at Markham Colliery". The bottom tiles - no doubt sponsored by local companies - appear to advertise those selfsame businesses.

Markham House, Nr Duckmanton
This house was a National Coal Board property that housed the Manager of Markham Colliery that was very near this site. The M1 Motorway, completed in 1966, passes the front of the premises, and it is now used by a recovery company.
