Former entrance to Chesterfield Gasworks
Now the entrance to the Holmebrook Valley Trail. The sculpture 'Entrance Arch', by Michael Johnson was unveiled in 1997 and is no.11 on the Art Trail. It represents the industries that formerly existed in the immediate area. The opening was where the railway siding entered the gasworks after crossing Chatsworth Road, and rather than gates, the crossing was controlled by chains across the road http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6885223 , which are represented in the uprights of the sculpture.
