House, Woodfold, Woodside, Sheffield
This individual property is at the end of the terrace of houses, and obviously pre-dates them by some years.

Facing the camera is the original Pitsmoor Laundry building, as shown on the OS 1905 map ... the 'extension' to the left is newer!

Stanley Tools, Rutland Road Site, Sheffield - 5
This view shows the original Woodfold Entrance ... long closed and looking very poor with loads of rubbish all around the site. Shame as many local and not so local people would have used this entrance and have had good memories - and probably not so good - of working here. The dereliction surely sours these memories.

"Bird and Boy" rusting sculpture, Rutland Road, Sheffield
Created by sculptor Jason Thomson in consultation with local schoolchildren. Oddly the child on the bird's back is wearing what appear to be work gloves - perhaps reflecting the area's proud industrial heritage.

Bird and Boy Sculpture, Rutland Road, Sheffield
This sculpture, by local artist Jason Thomson, features a bird with the figure of a boy on its back. The bird is (probably) a Kestrel, reflecting those which nest and fly in the nearby Parkwood Springs area. On the bird's back is a young boy wearing big gloves ... possibly reflecting those worn by the workmen in the heavy industries Sheffield is associated with. The sculpture, made from cast iron, was erected early in 2008 and has now 'rusted' to a more distinctive colour. It is placed close to one of the entrances to Parkwood Springs country park.

Re-development on Pitsmoor Road, Pitsmoor, Sheffield
I understand this row of houses was, at one point in its history, a Children's Home ... it is currently getting a makeover into apartments.
