Former Cannon and 32 Castle Street, Sheffield
No. 32 presents a lively mix of orange brick and stone dressings, a sort of tower at the corner between two massive gables. Originally a shop, cafe and restaurant for Arthur Davy & Sons Ltd, by Gibbs & Flockton, 1904. Now occupied by a Quicksilver amusement arcade. Round the corner to the right is the former Cannon pub, of 1902-03 by J.R. Wigfull for William Stones's brewery. Three ornate bays carried up as dormers with segmental pediments. Now empty and advertised to let. Surprising that neither is listed.

Built in 1904 in red brick as shop, cafe and restaurant for Arthur Davey & Son's. A pity the main door on the corner has been covered over.

A view of Sheffield's Old Town Hall
The Old Town Hall was designed by Charles Watson and built in 1807–08. It was superseded by a better and bigger town hall that still stands on Pinstone Street and was opened by Queen Victoria in 1897. Currently, in the neighbourhood of The Old Town Hall significant city centre regeneration and remodelling is underway - hence the panelling to the right of this picture - hiding ongoing works on the site of Sheffield's lost medieval castle.
