Deepcar Parade ... Doctor, Double Glazing and Butchery!
This parade of buildings has on the left the 'Old' Doctors' Surgery ... in the middle a Double Glazing Showroom and Offices ... and on the right a closed Butchering Dept building. I presume the Butchering Dept was part of a Co-op Shop back in the good old days. To see a 'close up' of the 'Old' Doctors and the 'New' Medical Centre follow the links.

A picture in the 'Around Stocksbridge Vol 1' book shows the Butchery Department as part of the Old Haywoods branch of the Stocksbridge Band of Hope Industrial Co-operative Society in 1910

Toad Hall in Old Haywoods, Deepcar
Don't ask me why ... but the middle house has the name Toad Hall on a sign under the window!
I am reliably informed that this building was originally the Sportsman's Arms public house and was also known as Pladdeys after the popular couple who ran the pub for over 30 years.
