Stocksbridge Hall
Off Park Drive ... usually 'hiding' behind the trees, you have to wait for Autumn to be able to get a reasonable view of this fine looking building which was built in 1858. The Stocksbridge map of 1903 shows this building to be in a large estate with a long drive up to the Hall from Manchester Road. A Lodge was situated at the bottom of the drive. Many houses and bungalows (including those shown on link Image) have now been built on the estate and surround the Hall

... but from behind (or front) they are much bigger. There are nine blocks like this one ... all built on the hillside to give a great view over the Lower Don Valley. Image

Newton Grange EPU, Stocksbridge - 3
This view of one of the office blocks for the EPU - named appropriately Horner House - also shows, within the boundary wall, a pair of Gate Posts and the Date Stone from the original Horner House. The date on the stone is 1662 ... great to see it preserved in this way. Image Image Image

This Way To Post A Letter ... and Go To The Baths in Stocksbridge
An interesting trio of street furniture in Stocksbridge. I'll bet there aren't many other signs saying 'To The Baths and Sports Centre' in the UK (or the World!) Image
