Stocksbridge Hall
Off Park Drive ... usually 'hiding' behind the trees, you have to wait for Autumn to be able to get a reasonable view of this fine looking building which was built in 1858. The Stocksbridge map of 1903 shows this building to be in a large estate with a long drive up to the Hall from Manchester Road. A Lodge was situated at the bottom of the drive. Many houses and bungalows (including those shown on link
Image) have now been built on the estate and surround the Hall

Oaks Avenue, Garden Village Estate, Stocksbridge
The footpath in the foreground leads down from the Leisure Centre ... Hunshelf Bank is in the background. Oaks Avenue is part of a small housing estate, built in 1918, known as the Garden Village Estate. When the houses were originally built, each had a Fruit Tree planted in its garden ... donated from the nearby Oxley's Fruit Farm (now long gone). I have to say that, now, there isn't much evidence of these Fruit Trees!
