Not So Pretty 'Prefabs' in Ecclesfield
Pre-Fabricated Houses, known as 'Prefabs' were erected to give temporary accommodation at the end of WW2 ... a small estate of these are still in use at Ecclesfield. This one (and some others) still has its 'Prefab Shed' shown on the left. One of the 'Prefabs' has been demolished and replaced with a brick built bungalow ... part of this can be seen in the background. Image

Ecclesfield Park, Ecclesfield
The northern (smaller) section of the park; the majority of the park is the other side of the tree lined footpath on the left. On this visit there was much football being played on the park, though not in this part of it.

Pretty 'Prefab' in Ecclesfield
Amazing what some TLC can do to personalise and transform a utilitarian building into something unique and personal. Image

'Prefab' housing.
These houses were built immediately after WW2 to provide a quick solution to the shortage of houses. They were only intended as a temporary solution with a limited life - about 20 years - but some remain and are still providing a home.
