Old milestone
On Cowley Lane, Chapeltown, A629, about ½ mile west of Junction 35 of the M1. A somewhat sunken West Riding CC milestone from 1893/94. In need of refurbishment the mileage to Chapeltown is ½ mile. Fortunately someone keeps the ivy away. There was a turnpike road from Rotherham to Wortley between 1740 and 1883. This stone is Grade II listed 335446.
