Good News for the A6102, near Middlewood Tavern, Oughtibridge
The Main A6102 Road to Sheffield has been closed, near Middlewood Tavern, since June 2007, due to a landslip caused by heavy rain ... the landslip carried with it half of the road and all of the pavement! After 18 months the road is nearly ready for re-opening ... Hurrah! The thousands of 'North Sheffielders' affected by this will no longer have to use the diversions.Image Image Image Image

1A Stockarth Lane, Middlewood, near Oughtibridge
This house, numbered 1A Stockarth Lane, was (I believe) originally built for the local policeman to live in. It certainly looks like a 'service design' so it probably was. There were supposed to be two houses of this style, but I can't find evidence of a second.

New Path at Middlewood, Middlewood Road North, Sheffield
A new footpath has been laid, running from the gate entrance on Middlewood Road North to the Wadsley Park Village estate ... I assume that the soil will be grassed over in the future. The gate entrance is just visible under the lamp post ... now fitted with a security infill to stop Motorbikes getting through. Image Image

Former Middlewood Hospital Gate, Stockarth Lane, Middlewood, Sheffield
This former Mental Hospital Gate gave access to the Hospital Farm, where most of the food and provisions for the inmates was grown. A similar gate, which originally gave access to the Hospital Allotments, can be seen on Middlewood Road North, near to the former Key Lodge. Image Image Image
