Locked gates leading to ... not sure! Does anybody know? Well, the answer is Yes, somebody does know! On the 6th October 2009 I have been contacted with the explanation that these gates and the drive behind led up to Spring Grove House, which was the family home of the Dixon Family. The Dixon's being the original owners of the Paper Mill. Makes sense that their drive led down directly to opposite the mill. The actual house has long since been demolished. Thank you Simon for solving the mystery.
