Ghost train
According to the "Live" national rail enquires phone app the 9:44 train to Sheffield is in the platform at this moment. It was displayed approaching from Bamford a few minutes before, and a few minutes later on its way to Grindleford. The annunciator in the platform shelter said the same thing.
Both app and annunciator were, as you can see, wrong. There was no train. This was the day that storm Otto swept across the North of Britain, and wrought havoc on the railway services - each high transpennine line fell victim to falling trees. There was no train.
It is clear that the computer that drives both the app and the station annunciators merely play out the timetable, modified a bit if a human enters a delay time. On this day no-one told the computer about the blockage, so it continued acting out the movements of non-existent trains.
