Looking east from the depot at Nunnery, construction is in full swing of Sheffield's new tramway. The line will approach just below the embankment to the right and the depot lines will sweep round left to enter the yard.

Trams parked at Nunnery Depot, Sheffield Supertram
In August 1994, when this photograph was taken, the system was not fully open, so a lot of spare trams were parked in the depot yard. They are all in the original livery, which changed a few years later, when Stagecoach took over. Photographed from inside a tram passing by the depot, on the service from Meadowhall Interchange.

Nunnery sidings, Sheffield
Nunnery was originally a London & North Western Railway goods yard. After Victoria station closed in 1970 it became a reversing point for trains from Huddersfield to Sheffield, and carriage sidings. Here, loco no 45104 "The Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers" backs onto a rake of carriages, presumably to take them into Midland station.
