The tram stop is in the far distance, on the left. The line ends here, a few yards beyond the stop, and just before the roundabout at the junction of Eckington Way & Station Road. Image

Line to nowhere
The tram line to Halfway continues past the Halfway tram stop for a few yards, and then ends at this point. Beyond is the roundabout at the junction of Eckington Way and Station Road. This photograph was taken in 1995, the year the line opened, but 14 years later this remains the terminus. There has been talk that one day this line could be extended further; if so some way of negotiating the roundabout would have to be found. Any such extension is probably many years away. Although Manchester and Nottingham are extending their systems, Sheffield has never been able to, and all that is currently on the horizon, is the addition of 4 new trams to the current fleet of 25.
