Pennine Centre, Tenter Street, Sheffield (1)
A huge office complex consisting of five blocks, the nearest, Griffin House, rising to thirteen storeys. Built 1973-75. The architects were a local firm, Richard Hemingway and Partners.
Midland Bank was an original occupant and its successor, HSBC, is still here.
Its position at the foot of Broad Lane means it is surprisingly unobtrusive in most views of the city (Image]).
Fellow Geographer Dave Hitchborne tells me that previously this was the site of the Tenter Street tram depot and later the Townhead Street bus depot.
