Overlooking Sally Clark's Field
Sally Clark lived in a cottage at the top of this field in the 1800's. Not much is known about her, but she was believed by many local people to be a witch. Beighton is in the background.

Site of Birley East Colliery
Though the last coal was drawn in 1943, Birley East Colliery served as a training facility for 'Bevin Boys' during World War II http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birley_Collieries
