Date stone on the Old School House
The stone is dated 1730 and lists four benefactors who donated sums between £10 and £50. The listed buildings register gives the date as 1736, presumably when the school opened. See Image for context.

The Old School House
A grade II listed building dated 1736 in the listed buildings register but the date stone listing the benefactors gives 1730 Image Maybe it took 6 years for the donations to be turned into building work. It became a private house in 1840 after a new, larger school was built near the parish church.
