NatWest Bank, Fulwood Road, Broomhill
Standing outside the HSBC gives you this view of the NatWest. It's always been a bank as far as I know. An armed robbery once took place here. Sawn off shot guns were used and fired in Taptonville Road as a warning. The bank stands at the corner of Fulwood Road and Taptonville Road, a road I used to be dragged up as a child in WWII to get the condensed milk, cod liver oil and malt. The only notable building up there is the Library, so that's where it must have been supplied from. The apparition to the right, is a rooftop car park.

Fulwood Road, Broomhill
Here, years ago, there was a row of terraced shops, which were built right up to the pavement. There was a passageway in the centre, which was by a baker's shop and it led to some steps up which you could climb to a courtyard and there, there was a cottage industry which made sports equipment. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/934074 and http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/983944 The shops are, from left to right - Somerfield, Cooplands - bread, cakes and sandwiches, Williamson Hardware, Blackwells - discounted books, PDSA, Balti King, Boots and Cream - Cafe, Coffee Bar & Gallery, whose address is given as 1 Crookes and not Fulwood Road. Above these shops is a rooftop car park.

Rooftop Car Park, Broomhill
When I walked around to these commercial premises, there was a young man keeping the place clean and tidy and I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of litter that usually accumulates around the rear of shops. I was unaware of the controversy about the rooftop car park and glad now that I didn’t take my car up there to take the photographs. http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/letters/Beverley-Warne--on-the.3853303.jp http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/news/Pressure-on-parking-firm-over.3932764.jp http://sheffieldlibdems.org.uk/news/000199/local_councillor_stands_up_to_car_park_bullies.html http://www.thestar.co.uk/action/No-mercy-from-car-park.3758094.jp http://www.thestar.co.uk/action/All39s-fine-after-rogue-ticket.4276938.jp http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/parking-traffic-offences/130083-excel-parking.html

Rooftop Car Park, Broomhill
Commercial parking and rooftop car parking with access to the shops below. This used to be an inclined slope, in a courtyard, with an alleyway to the terraced shops beyond. The shops and the courtyard went and new shops were built. Across Fulwood Road, the shops remain untouched. The tall roof of the York hotel can just be seen in the distance. I was unaware of the controversy about the rooftop car park and glad now that I didn’t take my car up there to take the photographs. http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/letters/Beverley-Warne--on-the.3853303.jp http://www.sheffieldtelegraph.co.uk/news/Pressure-on-parking-firm-over.3932764.jp http://sheffieldlibdems.org.uk/news/000199/local_councillor_stands_up_to_car_park_bullies.html http://www.thestar.co.uk/action/No-mercy-from-car-park.3758094.jp http://www.thestar.co.uk/action/All39s-fine-after-rogue-ticket.4276938.jp http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/parking-traffic-offences/130083-excel-parking.html
