Thurrock Yacht Club
This is Thurrock Yacht Club. Not much activity on Christmas Morning (it must have been the low tide!). In the background you can see one of the overgrown pylons that allow Thames shipping to pass safely below the high tension cables see Image

The Gull
The Gull is the second oldest “surviving” lightship in existence. Built in 1860 she spent 80 years in service. She was first moored at Grays in 1947 as the clubhouse for Grays Yacht Club. She was used for storage after the new clubhouse was opened in 1971. The rot set in when the locals started to “salvage” the copper deck covering. A group of eternal optimists is trying to obtain lottery funding to restore her.
