Thatching Straw?
I was taken aback when saw barley as tall as this, a sight I have not seen in many years. Most farmers these days plant dwarf varieties (or use growth inhibitors) as stubble burning is banned. I can only assume the straw will be used for thatching or corn dollies. To give some idea of the height the wheels of the venerable old Carlton Corsa (1973 vintage) are 27 inches in diameter.
