This building first appears on the 1935 1:2500 map, at the entrance to a sandpit that is shown on a number of earlier maps, suggesting that its present role is a natural development of past land use here.

Garage in High Street. Although the building as a whole does not appear particularly old, the north wall is interesting - see Image A possible explanation is that old maps show a building here marked as a malthouse, and perhaps the wall is the part of this original building.

Milestone, Godstone Hill
Junction of Godstone Hill with Oxted Road, historically the junction of the Surrey and Sussex Turnpike of 1718, running from Southwark to Highgate in the Ashdown Forest, en route to Eastbourne, and the Wrotham Heath and Croydon and Godstone Road Turnpike of 1765.
