The End of the Road, Ranmore Common.
A common sight in 2001 as farmers took precautions against livestock disease. This is looking north, near Pigden Farm, in the direction of Polesdon Lacey. The path has many flint nodules coming to the surface, a common feature on the North Downs.

Flintstones, Meet the Flintstones
The bridleway along the dry valley bottom has many stretches where its topsoil has been eroded / washed away to reveal the underlying flint. These stones vary from less than inch across to about three inches wide.

By Hogden Lane
Rather confusingly, Hogden Lane is the name given both to a made up lane connecting High Barn Road and Ranmore Common Road but also (and more originally) a track connecting Polesden Road, near Polesden Lacey, again with Ranmore Common Road, both running quite close to each other for the last kilometre or so. The track version is seen here to the right of the low wall.
