Abinger Hammer
The clock hovering over the A25 includes a blacksmith who strikes an anvil on the hour. It is an indication of the historical importance of iron working in this village. There was a forge here from the mid 16th century till the end of the 18th century.

Jack the Hammer
Eye-catching landmark on the A25 Guildford Road through Abinger Hammer. Blacksmith Jack strikes the hours with his hammer - a throwback to iron-making days in the Tilling Bourne valley. The "hammer clock" commemorates Lord Farrer of nearby Abinger Hall - his death was in 1899.
