Railway near Beare Green
The Horsham to Dorking railway near Beare Green, built originally as the Horsham, Dorking and Leatherhead Railway, opened on 1 May 1867 and absorbed by the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway as part of its route to Portsmouth. This section of line often suffers from landslips, and the piling seen here serves to protect the embankment.
