Looking from The Green along Slough Lane, with The Orchard on the left and the combined building of Applecroft, Malt Cottage & Little Maltings Cottage. This latter group was originally a single mediaeval hall house originally dating from around 1400 and the oldest building in Buckland. It is grade II listed - see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1028793.

Slough Lane
Slough Lane is a minor road north-east from Buckland green. Beyond the street nameplate, the road becomes private subject to a public footpath Buckland 473. The road serves Slough House, while the footpath continues to Lawrence Lane. The name is derived from the Sloughs, a stream through the shallow valley north of Buckland village. Although there are only two Slough Lanes in Surrey, the other is only a little to the north, in Headley.

Old School House and The Orchard, on the north side of The Green. Old School House (on the left) was built in 1862, designed by Henry Woodyer (who was also responsible for the rebuilding of St Mary's Church), and housed the village school until 1981. The Orchard (on the right) dates from 1878. The tree in the foreground was planted in 2012 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
