St Mark's Church
Built in 1860, designed by Field and Hilton. The tower was originally topped by a spire, but this was removed (two books I have seen variously quote 1900 and 1918) because it was found to be unstable.

Historic market town at the foot of the North Downs. Today it is very much a dormitory town for Gatwick and London commuters.

War Memorial, Alma Road
Alongside St Marks Church in Alma Road, the tower of which can be seen in the background. Unusually, it was originally unveiled in November 1917, a year before the end of the First World War.

Pair of semi-detached Victorian houses in Alma Road. For many years the building housed a small private school for children aged 2 - 7, Coniston School, until closure in 1997.
