The Street
The main village street of Washington and once the main east-west route through the village until it was replaced by a new turnpike in 1778 which is the current A283. The original north-south route was diverted to the east along what is now Washington Bostal in the 17th century. The cottages in view are Old Cottage and Corner Cottage which date back to the 18th century.
