The Cutting
The point at which the Brighton Road crosses the "Red Hill" required a shallow cutting, hence the name of this stretch of road. It wasn't originally built up - these houses date from around the 1920s.

2 - 3 Pendleton Road
This cottage, split into two dwellings, dates from the early 18th century and is locally listed. The white building beyond, St Johns Lodge, is from the early 19th century and is grade II listed - see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1377975.
