Medieval Middle Street
The area in the centre of Horsham, known as the Carfax, would have been an open space for markets, fairs, public capital punishments etc. where the five roads into the town met. The south of the Carfax and the area around the Causeway still have medieval streets such as Colletts Alley,Crown Alley, Talbot Lane and Morth Gardens. Middle Street, formerly Butchers Row, provided a connection between East Street and West Street until its pedestrianisation in the 1960s.

The Pipe Shoppe
In Image this is one of the few remaining dedicated tobacconist shops. The upper storey front façade has been stripped of plaster revealing the laths beneath. This is probably the first time that this has happened since before the invention of the camera.

The Crown, 6 Carfax
A large pub which was rejuvenated in 2007. It has over the years spread itself over several buildings. It is a Grade II listed building and has been on this site since around 1805. Previously it was in West Street, where Lloyds TSB Bank now is. At one time it was a hotel with accommodation, and was then known as the Crown Hotel. Image
