Copthorne Hotel Effingham Gatwick
Hotel on West Park Road. A house has stood here since at least 1761 although the present building, albeit much expanded, dates from the 1870s, built for a colonial merchant and magistrate, John Henderson.
In the early 1970s the site was acquired by the former motor manufacturer Trojan Limited to be used as offices for the company as well as a motor museum, housing the classic car collection of the owner of Trojan, Peter Agg. It was subsequently extended as a hotel, which opened in 1988. It is now part of the Millennium and Copthorne Hotel group.
