A remnant from before the development of Whitley as a Reading suburb, and now quite out of character with its surroundings.
It looks like almshouses or an old school or something.

St Paul's Church, Whitley
Not a very good shot I'm afraid, with all the cars and building work, but this little mission hall style church is still used for regular worship, and as a play centre during the week.

The house on the left is #59 Whitley Wood Lane, the house on the right #63. So what happened to #61? Presumably demolished for Poldark Road.

From the junction with Vernon Crescent. The houses on the right of the road would have once been on the edge of the estate, but more modern ones, as seen ahead, have filled in the area to the Basingstoke Road.
