Old Basing Methodist Church, The Street
This modest building in The Street dates from 1867 when it was opened as the Primitive Methodist Chapel. As far as is known to me, there has never been any other methodist church or chapel in the village, but this one is still going strong in 2007. The porch and the side extension are additions in recent years.

Cavalier Cottage, Old Basing
As the listed building description http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-138892-cavalier-cottage-2-old-basing-and-lychpi notes, the C17 eastern part of this "irregular group of attached small structures" has "the appearance of a former granary or cart-shed". Note the disused Edward VII postbox.

We are standing in Milking Pen Lane, which curves round to form a junction with The Street - the main north-south road through Old Basing. The 'Bolton Arms' pub (see Image) with its sign is straight ahead.
